Keel Laying Plaque

ules James III is the grandson of Admiral Jules James who was the commandant of the Charleston Navy Shipyard during the time the USS Tidewater was being built and commissioned. The younger James is a LIFE MEMBER of the AD31 Association. During a visit with him at his home, Robert Hall took this photo of a plaque that Jules grandfather, Admiral James, had received on the occasion of the first arc being struck for the USS Tidewater in 1944.
