DESTROYERS ALONGSIDE
Bill Cook, ET2 USS Tidewater 62-65
his
photo shows two destroyers tied up alongside AD31 at
D & S Piers, Norfolk, VA in 1964. The hull numbers
are clearly visible. Research by Bob Hall identifies
them:
"USS Hoel DDG
13, and the DDG25 which was actually built for the Austrailian
Navy in Bay City, MI. It must have been alongside before
it was released to Austrailia and renamed HMAS Perth
D-38. NOTE: Both ships were built at the same shipyard."
